Nobles County Jail Overview
Nobles County Jail is operated by the Nobles County Sheriff's Office and serves as the contract local jail for Rock County. The Rock County Sheriff's Office confirms that Rock County contracts with Nobles County for jail services. For Rock County detainees, that makes this facility the main custody location for local jail holds, visitation, mail, phone, and inmate money.
The facility is a regional/local adult detention facility at the Prairie Justice Center in Worthington. It holds Rock County pretrial detainees and sentenced local inmates by contract, Nobles County detainees, other-agency holds, adult men and women, and limited delinquent juvenile holds under the rural exception described in the inspection record. It is not a Minnesota state prison, a federal prison, or a dedicated ICE detention facility.

Booking Intake Classification
A Rock County arrest can involve transport by Rock County law enforcement and intake at Nobles County Jail. Minnesota Rule Chapter 2911 requires admission functions such as verifying commitment papers, checking admission date and charges, searching the inmate and possessions, inventorying property, obtaining emergency medical information, completing initial medical screening, allowing telephone calls during booking before housing assignment, and photographing or fingerprinting as part of admission.
The 2025 inspection required admissions policy updates to use the Brief Jail Mental Health Screen. It also noted classification and separation concerns involving minimum, medium, and maximum classified inmates sharing housing or day space. Those findings do not change the public lookup path, but they explain why a roster entry may not show the housing or classification detail that the jail uses internally.
Nobles Jail Inspection Conditions
The 2025 DOC inspection described the jail as clean overall and free of major defects, while also noting facility age and water damage in shower areas in inmate housing. Corrective-action items involved training-plan documentation, admissions policy, emergency-procedure review records, food-handling inspection documentation, weekly lock inspections, medication-refrigeration temperature checks, staff training documentation, administrative segregation reviews, and response-to-resistance or Taser training timing.
Nobles County Jail also publishes PREA information with a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse and harassment. Reports can involve jail channels, Worthington Police Department investigation of criminal allegations, Southwest Crisis Center, or anonymous reporting. For urgent safety issues, contact the facility or emergency services directly.
Note: Confirm custody and visitation with Nobles County Jail before traveling from Rock County or sending money.
Directions From Rock County
Nobles County Jail is west of downtown Worthington near the airport corridor, not in Rock County itself. A visitor coming from Luverne normally travels east or northeast toward Worthington using I-90 as the main regional route, exits toward Worthington, then follows local roads toward Airport Road and the Prairie Justice Center area. From central Worthington, drive toward the airport/Prairie Justice Center corridor at 1530 Airport Road.
Official jail instructions did not publish parking rates, detailed public transit routes, or ADA entrance details. Call 507-295-5290 or 507-295-5400 before arrival if accessible entry, parking, or transportation details are important for the visit.
Rock County families should also remember that the courthouse side of a Rock case remains in Luverne even when the jail visit is in Worthington. A trip to the jail will not replace a call to Rock County District Court for hearing times, certified records, or filed charges.
